Spoil Dad for Christmas: Gifts Under $100

Gifts Under $100

December 8, 2014 by Isaiah Burkhart 1 Comment

Deciding on a gift for dad is never easy. Deciding on a gift for dad when you are on a budget is even more difficult.

Together, we here at The Loadout Room have put together a list of 10 affordable, top-quality gifts that we believe any father would love. Some of the products have been reviewed by our staff and others simply caught our eye. We believe all are well-crafted and unique products that would make any father run for the woods to try them out.

Hopefully this gift list will make the Christmas-shopping experience a little less stressful, and in the process, make YOUR happy father. Whether on a budget or not, any of these items will make a wonderful stocking stuffer.

Note: For further info, click on Review for a review from the loadoutroom.com, or the Buy Now option to purchase the product.

1. Petzl Tactikka + RGB (Review) (Buy Now)

Petzl has always been one of the world leaders when it comes to headlamps. During almost my entire military career, I had one either on my helmet or around my neck. A headlamp keeps the hands free, making it a great tool to have when you are working with both your hands. The Petzl Tactikka +RGB is probably one of the best headlamps I’ve come across.

2. MSR PocketRocket Stove — (Review) (Buy Now)

What I love about my MSR PocketRocket is not only the size, but the short time it takes to boil a liter of water. Within three and a half minutes, you will have boiling water for your coffee, hot chocolate, MREs, or to shave (yeah, I know it sucks shaving in the field, but the brass loves it when we look good).

3. Prana Bronson Lined Pants — (Review) (Buy Now)

If you live in an area that experiences cool or freezing temperatures, these pants are great for traveling to the store, doing chores around the house/yard, or even wearing during a short hike in the woods.

4. LifeStraw — (Review) (Buy Now)

The award-winning LifeStraw personal water filter can travel with you anywhere. Weighing just two ounces and measuring only nine inches long, LifeStraw is ideal for hiking, backpacking, camping, travel, and emergency preparedness. The straw-style filter design lets you turn up to 264 gallons of contaminated water into safe drinking water, filtering out protozoa and bacteria.

5. Streamlight Siege AA — (Review) (Buy Now)

It’s hard to get overly excited about a camp light, but a camp light like this does make me excited. Gone are the days of dealing with glass globes, wicks, and mantles of the Coleman camp lights we all used as kids. The 21st century and the Streamlight Siege have made those obsolete.

6. SOG Bladelight Camp — (Review) (Buy Now)

SOG has always been at the top of their game when it comes to designing new knives. When you are outdoors and need to use your knife in the dark, you used to have to pull out your flashlight and light the area where you need to work. Well, SOG has just created a new knife that will make your life easier and more fun by mounting the light to the knife.

7. Giro Feature Trail-Riding Mountain-Bike Helmet — (Review) (Buy Now)

The Giro Feature helmet is adaptable to nearly any riding conditions except those requiring full-face protection. If you are looking for a helmet that provides extreme comfort, coverage, adjustability, and goggle compatibility, look no further.

8. Outdoor Research Stormsensor Gloves — (Review) (Buy Now)

The soft lining is comfortable and the side vents on the fingers enable better airflow. Little things like the inclusion of nose-friendly material on the thumb for cold-weather wipes (we all do it), clips to connect the gloves, and carabiner hoops on the inside are thoughtful extras that go a long way.

9. Leatherman Super Tool 300 — (Review) (Buy Now)

The award-winning Leatherman Super Tool 300 is the multitool for the working man. When you’re working with gloves on, the large side-cutouts make it easy to grab components, and the rolled handles make for a comfortable grip. This bad boy comes equipped with 19 tools, all ready for your toughest jobs.

Hard up for cash this year? You can still give a gift that shows you care. A medical kit like this one is handy, and could save a life. Assemble it with simplicity in mind—a low-profile setup with just enough supplies to address serious bleeding to mere cuts and scrapes.

Feel like spendy some big bucks on a father or brother this year? Check out our top 10 list of gifts over $100.
