Sherpa Blanket from Rumpl: Polar Vortex approved

Sherpa Blanket

February 6, 2019 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

Living in the Midwest this winter has been more challenging than years past. A polar vortex created an almost uninhabitable environment across much of the region. Temperatures dropped to -34F in Northern Michigan and the Governor declared a state of emergency. Between January 25th and Feb 5th, my son has gone to school just one day on Feb 1st. To make matters worse, Consumers Energy suffered a compressor fire in Michigan that greatly reduced natural gas output. Customers were urged by Consumers Energy to lower their thermostats to 65F while they struggle to meet the increased demands on a crippled supply chain. Fortunately, our family is a huge fan of Rumpl products. And the Sherpa Blanket did its job in spades.

Over the past few years, I’ve become a regular customer of Rumpl products. They just seem to get it. High-quality materials, designed with nature in mind and sustainability are all qualities I admire about Rumpl. It all started with their Down Puffy Blanket a few years ago. As the company evolves and new products are introduced, I always feel compelled to take a look at them. Shammy Towels for our boat. Waterproof Ground Cover for camping and concerts. Puffy Blanket for use in our Roof Top Tent. And now the Sherpa Blanket for lounging on the couch during a Polar Vortex.

With a super soft Polyester Sherpa Fleece on the back side of this blanket, you’ll soon find yourself on the couch binge watching whatever series on Netflix. The soft microsuede material on the front of the blanket looks as good as it feels. And offered in 3 neutral colors, you’re sure to find one that compliments your living room. We only had the Sherpa Blanket for a week before realizing we needed a second one. Since the Sherpa is only available in the 50×70″ throw size, it’s a one person affair. So no more hard feelings when the first person to retire for the evening grabs the only Sherpa.

Sherpa Blanket Features courtesy of Rumpl:

  • Signature Rumpl design aesthetic inspired by the patterns found in nature.
  • Roll-up straps for easy-carry and convenience
  • Super-soft microsuede face
  • Plush Sherpa fleece designed for optimal warmth indoors or outside
  • DWR finish for water-resistance
  • Machine washable & dryer safe
  • Anti-microbial
  • MSRP $110

Sherpa Blanket is also Kayla approved

Although the standard Sherpa Blanket lacks an insulation layer, I’ve found that the fleece material does a fantastic job of trapping your body heat. And if that’s not enough for you, Rumpl offers a Puffy Sherpa Blanket with a layer of synthetic insulation for a few bucks more. Both are machine washable and dryer safe for easy maintenance. They also feature handy nylon straps and a handle for easy transport when rolled up. Regardless of where you live, it never hurts to have a couple of nice cozy blankets in the winter. Especially during a minor energy crisis during a polar vortex.
